Varsity Head Coach Seth Babikian

In his first year as head coach, Seth Babikian comes to Joel Barlow after coaching the JV and serving as the assistant head coach at St. Joseph's in Trumbull for four years. Prior to that, he coached at Fairfield Prep for two years. During his playing days, Coach Babikian was part of the NY/NJ Homenetmen travelling basketball team, which toured the USA and parts of Canada, for four years. He also played in the NY Urban Professional League for five years. He's still active as a basketball referee.

 


JV Coach Larry Ciambriello

Coach Larry Ciambriello is in his first year as JV coach, joining Seth Babikian's coaching staff. He is an member of the International Association Approved Basketball Officials Board #9 and serves as an official for Fairfield County high school games. He has been a coach with the Connecticut Future Stars AAU team, and has served as an instructor for officiating and youth basketball in a Westport Park & Rec program for the past five years.

 


Varsity Assistant Coach Frank Lisi

Frank Lisi is in his first year as an assistant coach at Barlow. An 18-year Easton resident, Lisi has coached youth basketball for years and is the father of Barlow graduate, Matt Lisi, one of the school's all-time leading scorers. He is also the father of two daughters, a junior at JBHS and a 6th grader, and is married to a supportive wife who manages to retain a sense of humor about his "healthy" obsession with basketball.

 


Freshman Coach Steve Antal


The 2007/2008 season marks Steve Antal's seventh year of working with the JBHS boys freshman team. Antal received his undergraduate degree from UMass-Lowell and has completed graduate studies from Hofstra University. Antal has been a Health/PE teacher at JBHS since 2000. He also serves as the coach of the highly successful varsity girls volleyball team, which placed second in the state this season.

 


Athletic Trainer Keith Deyo

Keith Deyo graduated from East Carolina University in 2001 with a degree in Sports Medicine. Upon graduation, he served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Marist College. He's been the Head Athletic Trainer at Joel Barlow High School since 2002, where his primary responsibilities are providing immediate response to injured athletes as well as caring for visiting athletes from area high schools. He is the direct line to advanced sports medicine services that range from rehabilitation of sports -related injuries to injury prevention training. Deyo is also the Co-Owner and Founder of The EDGE Performance Training, located in Bethel. The EDGE is southwest Connecticut's leader in performance-based training and injury prevention education.
